For the past year and a half, I’ve been working with an amazing group of writers—Lisa Dierbeck, Joshua Furst, DW Gibson, and Choire Sicha—to found our own publishing company, Mischief and Mayhem. About six months ago, we hooked up with two of the most respected publishers in the business, Colin Robinson, former publisher of Verso and the New Press, and John Oakes, founder of Four Walls Eight Windows and publisher of Thunder’s Mouth, who were in the process of putting together their own company, OR Books. We decided to join forces, and now, somehow, amazingly, our efforts are starting to see the light of day. OR Books is up and running, and a couple of Mischief and Mayhem books are in the pipeline.
